WEEE and RoHS Directives

On February 13th 2003 the councils of the EU and the European Parliament published two directives : WEEE and RoHS.

The purpose of these directives is to control the disposal of waste from electrical and electronic equipment and restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in these products and to protect human health and the environment.

WEEE	Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Compliance Date 13th August 2005 The reduction of waste electrical and electronic equipment going to landfill sites
RoHS	Restriction of use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Compliance Date 1st July 2006 The Specified Elements are as follows:
	Hazardous Substance • Cadmium (Cd) • Lead (Pb) • Mercury (Hg) • Hexavolent Chromium (CrVI) • Polybrominated Giphenyts (PBB's) • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE's)	Allowed PPM Level 100ppm (0.01%) 1000ppm (0.1%) 1000ppm (0.1%) 1000ppm (0.1%) 1000ppm (0.1%) 1000ppm (0.1%)

It is our constant endeavour to comply with all directrves relating to waste material, hazardous substances and the environment in general.

In this respect we are currently working closely with our suppliers to ensure that we fully conform to WEEE and RoHS requirements in time for the prospective implementation dates.
